Pakistani’s first Women Traverse Haramosh La

In the exciting turn of events, On June 16, three Pakistani women etched their names in history by successfully crossing Haramosh La, located around 65 kilometers (40 miles) to the east of Gilgit.

Dr. Sana Jamil, Ammara Sharif, and Sohniya Baber accompanied by their teammates Abduhu and Dr. Raheel, accomplished this incredible feat. Haramosh La, standing at a daunting 5,070 meters, posed numerous obstacles such as heavily fissured glaciers and the constant risk of avalanches.

Moreover, it’s in the middle part of the Rakaposhi-Haramosh Mountains which are a smaller part of the Karakoram Range. Haramosh is situated on a steep slope, just before the Indus River meets the Gilgit River a treacherous pass known for its technical difficulty and danger.

The team comprised of Dr. Sana Jamil from Karachi, Soniyah Babar from Karachi, Ammara Sharif from Multan, Dr. Raheel from Kharian, Abduhu from Faisalabad, and their guide Fida Ali Arundo, meticulously planned and executed their journey.
