Washington, D.C.: Donald Trump has announced that a U.S. delegation will travel to Islamabad tomorrow evening for high-level talks, as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.
In a statement shared on Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of committing a serious violation of the ceasefire but expressed optimism that both sides may be close to reaching an agreement. He stated that the United States has offered Tehran a “very good and reasonable deal,” aimed at easing regional tensions and paving the way for a diplomatic resolution.
However, the U.S. President issued a stern warning, saying that failure to reach an agreement could lead to unprecedented action. Trump claimed that if Iran rejects the deal, critical infrastructure such as power plants and bridges could be targeted—steps he said no American president has taken in the past 47 years.
Trump also alleged that despite Iran’s announcement to close the Strait of Hormuz, the passage is effectively already restricted due to a U.S. blockade. According to him, the situation is costing Iran approximately $500 million per day, while the United States remains unaffected.
In addition, Trump reported that a French naval vessel and a British cargo ship were fired upon in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the incident a “provocative act” and stressing that such actions are unacceptable.
The developments come a day after Iran declared the closure of the vital maritime route, triggering reports of clashes and gunfire in the region, further intensifying global concerns over stability in one of the world’s most critical النفط transit corridors.
