A doctor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in a targeted attack on Shahrah-e-Faisal near Metropole in Karachi, according to reports.
Police identified the victim as Dr. Sarang, who was attacked while traveling with his wife. The couple was reportedly returning home from Cantt Station when armed men intercepted their rickshaw.
According to officials, the assailants arrived in a car, blocked the rickshaw, and opened fire on the doctor before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred in front of the victim’s wife, adding to the shock and brutality of the attack.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. Dr. Sarang was said to be a physician at a private hospital.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining multiple angles to determine the motive behind the killing. No arrests have been made so far.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over rising street crime in Karachi. Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has taken strict notice of the increasing number of robbery and violence cases across the city.
The IG has requested a detailed report from Additional IG Karachi and ordered immediate action to curb criminal activity.
The killing highlights ongoing security challenges in Karachi, where targeted attacks and street crimes continue to pose serious risks to residents. Authorities say efforts are being intensified to restore public confidence and bring those responsible to justice.
