Born in Lahore on October 15, 1994, Babar started playing cricket at a young age and made his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in 2010. He made his international debut for Pakistan in 2015.
Since then, Babar has been a consistent performer for Pakistan in all formats of the game. He is known for his elegant stroke-play, excellent footwork, and ability to score runs in all conditions. In 2019, Babar was appointed as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team in the limited-overs formats.
Babar has received numerous accolades for his performances, including the prestigious Sir Vivian Richards Award in 2020 for being the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year. He has also been named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year in 2017, 2019, and 2020, and the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year in 2018 and 2020.
