Revolutionary injection saving lives: New stroke recovery drug in Peshawar

The Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar has started using a new stroke recovery drug to treat patients suffering from stroke. The injection, known as tissue plasminogen activator (TPA), is used to open up clotted arteries in hyper acute stroke within three hours of onset.

According to Dr Asadullah Khan Addozai, an assistant professor at the neurology ward of LRH, the new injection has already saved the lives of 11 patients and protected them from disabilities caused by stroke. He emphasized that the injection is administered to patients after a very careful selection process, and the results have been excellent so far.

Stroke is a sudden onset of weakness in limbs or face, and it is one of the most disabling diseases in the world. However, with the new injection, stroke survivors are able to go home healthy and without any support, even if they came to the hospital on stretchers or wheelchairs.

In addition to LRH, the Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) has also started using the new medical technique for free treatment of stroke patients. Both medical teaching institutions have requested the government to cover the cost of the new therapy in the Sehat Card Plus program, which will ensure the provision of smooth services to patients.

LRH purchased the new injection two months ago and also received donations to provide the same free of cost to patients. With the success of the new stroke recovery drug, doctors are urging the government to include it in the Sehat Card Plus program so that all patients can have access to it.

The use of TPA injection is critical for hyper acute stroke patients because it helps to restore blood flow to the brain quickly. In hyper acute stroke, every minute counts, and the sooner the patient receives treatment, the better the chances of survival and recovery.

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and it is estimated that someone in the world has a stroke every two seconds. In Pakistan, stroke is a major public health issue, and the new stroke recovery drug has the potential to save many lives and improve the quality of life for stroke survivors.

The LRH and HMC are setting a positive example for other hospitals in Pakistan to follow. With the right investment and support from the government, more hospitals can adopt the new therapy and improve the stroke care they provide to patients.

Stroke is a debilitating disease that affects millions of people worldwide. In Pakistan, stroke is a major public health issue, and the new therapy has the potential to save many lives and improve the quality of life for stroke survivors. The LRH and Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) are leading the way in stroke care in Pakistan, and they have requested the government to cover the cost of the new stroke recovery drug in the Sehat Card Plus program.

The use of TPA injection is critical in hyper acute stroke because it helps to restore blood flow to the brain quickly. Every minute counts in hyper acute stroke, and the sooner the patient receives treatment, the better the chances of survival and recovery. With the success of the new stroke recovery drug, doctors are urging other hospitals in Pakistan to adopt it to improve the stroke care they provide to patients.

The government should take the necessary steps to include the injection in the Sehat Card Plus program so that all patients can benefit from this life-saving therapy. With the right investments and policies, Pakistan can significantly improve its healthcare system and provide better care to its citizens.

The LRH and HMC have shown that it is possible to provide high-quality stroke care in Pakistan. However, more investment and support from the government are needed to make the new therapy available to all stroke patients in the country. The inclusion of the injection in the Sehat Card Plus program would be a significant step towards achieving this goal.
