PCB announces coaching staff for upcoming matches

PCB made significant changes in coaching panel for upcoming series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that they have finalized and sent contracts to coaches Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick, with consultant Mickey Arthur already having signed his contract. The addition of these coaches comes as Pakistan prepares for a busy cricket season in the coming months.

Previous coaching experience of Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick

Grant Bradburn is a former New Zealand cricketer who has previously served as head coach for Scotland, while Andrew Puttick is a retired South African cricketer who has previously served as a batting consultant for Bangladesh. Both coaches bring a wealth of experience to the team and are expected to have a significant impact on the players.

Consultant Mickey Arthur signs contract with PCB

Mickey Arthur, a former head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, has also signed on as a consultant. He is expected to join the team on 18 April in Rawalpindi. Arthur has previously led Pakistan to the Champions Trophy title in 2017 and is highly regarded in Pakistan cricket circles. His return is seen as a major boost for the team, who are looking to rebuild after a disappointing performance in the recent tour of New Zealand.

However, there are some concerns about the availability of the coaches for the upcoming matches.

Bowling coach Morne Morkel busy with IPL, Umar Gul to serve as replacement

Due to prior commitments, consultant Mickey Arthur won’t be accompanying the team during their matches in Lahore, while the current bowling coach Morne Morkel is occupied with Indian Premier League (IPL). Therefore, former Pakistani cricketer Umar Gul has been appointed as the bowling coach for the upcoming series.

Appointment of Younis Khan and Waqar Younis as coaches

The PCB has been actively working to improve the standard of cricket in Pakistan in recent years, and the addition of these coaches is seen as another step in that direction. The board has also recently appointed former captain Younis Khan as the batting coach and former fast bowler Waqar Younis as the bowling coach for the national team.

The Pakistan cricket team has had a mixed run in recent times, with some impressive performances in the T20 format but struggling in the longer formats of the game. The upcoming season includes a tour of England, where Pakistan will play three ODIs and three T20Is, followed by a tour of the West Indies, where they will play two Tests and five T20Is.

PCB’s strategy for preparing for upcoming series

The addition of experienced coaches like Bradburn, Puttick, and Arthur is expected to give the team a significant boost, particularly in the longer formats of the game. The coaches are expected to work closely with the players to improve their skills and strategies, and to help them adapt to the conditions in England and the West Indies.

Pakistan Cricket Board has finalized contracts with some coaches, including Mickey Arthur as a consultant, and that Umar Gul will serve as the bowling coach for an upcoming series due to the unavailability of Morne Morkel and Mickey Arthur for certain matches.
