Man, son confess to killing three women found dead in Gulshan-e-Iqbal flat

In a significant development in the mysterious Gulshan-e-Iqbal case, Karachi police on Wednesday said that a man and his son have confessed to killing the three women who were found dead inside their apartment earlier this week. According to officials, the detained head of the family, Iqbal, along with his son, admitted during interrogation that they had murdered all three women, claiming that financial distress was the main motive behind the killings. Both suspects have now been formally arrested following their confession.

Initial reports had suggested that the women may have died due to a gas leak inside the flat, but the postmortem immediately ruled out this possibility. Forensic authorities revealed that one of the bodies showed early decomposition, indicating that the woman may have died nearly two days before police were alerted, raising questions about the timeline and circumstances surrounding the deaths. A forensic expert stated that while there were no visible signs of torture, some suspicious substance was detected in the blood samples of the deceased, suggesting a possible toxic element as the cause of death.

Police also disclosed that the head of the household, Muhammad Iqbal, allegedly practiced magic, adding a new angle to the investigation as authorities probe every aspect of the case. Investigators are examining the family’s troubled financial record, confirming that the household had borrowed more than Rs1.5 crore and had rented both a house and a vehicle despite mounting debts. Officials stated that a handwritten letter reportedly left by the father is now being examined for its relevance to the crime.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the family’s financial strain, personal relationships, and potential involvement of other individuals. Further forensic and chemical analyses, as well as statements from neighbors, building staff, and relatives, are expected to help police uncover the complete truth behind the deaths that have sparked widespread concern across the city.
