WhatsApp to Soon Allow Users to Connect Facebook Profiles
WhatsApp is preparing to roll out another major feature for its users, allowing them to link their Facebook profiles directly to their WhatsApp accounts. The free messaging and video calling app continues to expand its features to strengthen integration with Meta-owned platforms.
The new update was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.26.12, available on the Google Play Store. Once launched, the feature will enable users to add a Facebook profile link to their WhatsApp profile. A small Facebook icon will then appear next to the profile information, giving contacts quick access to the connected account while adding credibility and authenticity.
Much like Instagram linking, adding a Facebook account will remain optional. Users who prefer privacy can skip the feature altogether. For those who do link their Facebook accounts, WhatsApp will provide an option to verify through the Accounts Center. Verified accounts will display an official Facebook icon, while unverified links will show a generic symbol with the full URL.
Importantly, verification will not be mandatory. Users who choose not to verify can still display their Facebook profile link, and WhatsApp accounts themselves do not need to be connected to the Accounts Center for the option to work. This ensures that users retain full control over how their profiles appear.
The update reflects WhatsApp’s broader push toward social media integration. By linking platforms like Instagram and Facebook, the app aims to make user profiles more transparent, authentic, and trustworthy. Industry experts believe this could also pave the way for future integrations with other platforms, turning WhatsApp into a central hub for verified digital identity.
