Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran on Friday, urging Iran to return to the negotiating table over its nuclear program. He cautioned that any delay could result in far more devastating consequences following a massive Israeli offensive on Iranian military and nuclear installations.
Using his Truth Social platform, President Trump said that although heavy casualties and destruction have already occurred, there is still an opportunity to prevent further escalation. “The next wave of planned strikes will be even more severe,” he warned.
His remarks came just hours after Israel launched extensive airstrikes, targeting over 100 locations within Iran. The attacks reportedly eliminated several top-level figures, including high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists. Iran has denounced the raids as an outright “declaration of war.”
“I offered Iran numerous opportunities to reach an agreement,” Trump said in his statement. He emphasized Israel’s advanced arsenal, attributing its military capabilities in part to U.S. support, and said the Israeli forces are well-prepared to use them effectively.
“Significant loss of life and destruction has already taken place. But there’s still a narrow window to halt this bloodshed,” Trump continued. “Iran must act now — before there is nothing left. JUST DO IT — BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.”
In a separate interview with Fox News, the President confirmed he was informed in advance about Israel’s military operation and reiterated that Iran must be stopped from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He also signaled hope that diplomatic efforts might resume soon.
Trump, who withdrew the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) during his first term, is now expressing willingness to re-engage in dialogue. However, his tone remained firm and uncompromising.
Fox News reported that Trump’s administration alerted at least one key Middle Eastern partner about the planned strikes but maintained that the U.S. did not directly participate in the assault.
Trump also made it clear that the U.S. is fully prepared to defend itself and its ally, Israel, if Iran chooses to retaliate.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had stated that the United States was not part of the Israeli operation and emphasized that safeguarding American personnel in the region was the administration’s highest priority.
President Trump is expected to lead a National Security Council meeting later today to assess the evolving situation.
