Islamabad, September 8, 2023 – Excitement is building in Pakistan as the wedding date of cricket sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ansha Afridi, daughter of former cricketing legend Shahid Afridi, has been revealed. The much-anticipated wedding is set to take place later this month, following the conclusion of the Asia Cup 2023.
Currently, Shaheen Afridi is showcasing his remarkable skills on the cricket field in the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to wrap up on September 17 (Sunday). The wedding ceremony is planned for September 19, and the Valima reception will follow on September 21 in the capital city, Islamabad, according to inside sources.
However, the families of the couple have not officially confirmed the wedding date as of yet.
In April of this year, Shahid Afridi hinted at the wedding festivities during an interview with a private news channel, disclosing that Shaheen’s marriage celebrations would kick off in September.
Shaheen and Ansha previously tied the knot earlier this year in a ceremony held in Karachi. Following the Nikah, a grand reception was hosted, attended by notable cricket figures such as Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and squash legend Jahangir Khan.
The couple also celebrated their Mehndi function the day before the Nikah, commemorating their engagement that took place two years ago.
During an interview, the 23-year-old fast bowler candidly shared his feelings about the marriage, stating, “It was my marriage, so obviously, it was me who thought about marrying her. Lala and my brother have been friends for a very long time, and our elders know each other too. So, my mother went ahead with the rishta (proposal), and the families agreed.”
When asked about their first encounter, Shaheen explained, “There wasn’t a proper first meet-up as such. We used to go to each other’s houses. Whenever they’d come to our house, I’d see her around, and then we met at our Nikah.”
He also expressed his gratitude for having a supportive life partner, saying, “They say that you should always have a life partner that appreciates you, and thank God I have that. She doesn’t get involved much but has always supported me.”
