‘Protect our children’: Sajal Aly speaks out after 13-year-old tortured by judge’s wife

A recent incident of a 13-year-old domestic worker being subjected to torture by a judge and his wife in Islamabad has sparked outrage and shock across social media. In response, renowned actors like Sajal Aly and Nadia Jamil have come forward to condemn the injustice and demand justice for the young girl.

Sajal Aly, a prominent actress, expressed her strong disapproval of forcing young children into domestic labor and called for an immediate ban on such practices. In a heartfelt statement, she pleaded, “For the love of God, stop forcing little children to do all of your work. Child labor is wrong. It is illegal. It is punishable under the child protection laws.”

Child labor is a violation of human rights and is strictly prohibited by law in many countries, including Pakistan. It robs children of their childhood, deprives them of education, and exposes them to physical and emotional abuse. Sajal Aly‘s call to action aims to put an end to this inhumane treatment of children.

Nadia Jamil, an advocate for children’s rights, also spoke out against those who employ children as domestic slaves. She emphasized the harsh reality faced by many young children forced into such labor: “Often these tiny children are made to carry rich babies, clean rich people’s homes, serve them and press them. They are beaten, starved, and NEARLY ALL are deprived of an education! An education which is their constitutional right AND their deeni right.”

Child labor not only denies children their basic rights but perpetuates a cycle of poverty and inequality. These innocent children deserve protection and care, and it is the responsibility of society to ensure they are provided with a safe and nurturing environment.

Both Sajal Aly and Nadia Jamil are encouraging their followers to take action against child labor and child abuse. They urge people to report any instances of children being forced to work and to contact the Child Protection Bureau to ensure strict actions are taken against the perpetrators.

In Pakistan, as in many other countries, laws have been put in place to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse. The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees free and compulsory education for all children between the ages of 5 and 16, and it is a fundamental right that should not be denied to any child.

Poverty alleviation is not the burden of innocent children. Instead, it is the responsibility of society and the government to address this issue through proper social welfare programs and initiatives that lift families out of poverty without resorting to child labor.

Let us unite in protecting our children, the future of our nation. Every child deserves a childhood full of love, care, and education. It is time to stand up against child labor and abuse and create a safer, more compassionate society for all children. Together, we can make a difference and protect our children from the horrors of child labor and exploitation.
