- Fawad Chaudhary challenges JIT formed to investigate attacks on the police personnel during Zaman Park operations.
Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhary said that they would file reference against the cabinet members who took part in the meeting that rejected the Supreme Court verdict about in the elections delay case.
“We have sought details of the cabinet members who took part in the meeting which rejected the apex court verdict,” said Fawad Chaudhary, adding that they had given 12-hour time to the cabinet members to withdraw the statement that they rejected the SC verdict if they wanted to save themselves from the legal action.
He said, “If they do not take back the stance regarding rejection of the SC’s decision about elections then we will approach the Election Commission of Pakistan to take action against them under Article 63-A,”.
Fawad Chaudhary said that the cabinet members violated Article 2A of the Constitution which is about the sovereignty of the state.
“They have violated the ideology of the country,” said Fawad Chaudhary while accusing the cabinet members for rejecting the SC verdict.
The PTI leader said that they were working to challenge the registration of the PML-N as a convicted person who was sitting in London was running this party.
He referred to the recent media talk of Nawaz Sharif in which he suggested the coalition government to file reference against the judges of the three-member bench.
Fawad Chaudhary said that they [the PML-N leaders] were fool as they did not know that the reference could not be filed against the judges over the judgment.
He also made it clear that the Supreme Court had set a timeline for the government and the ECP to hold elections, saying that the Supreme Court would be approached if the government or others failed to comply with the timeline.
JIT formed to investigate PTI leaders challenged before LHC:
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary said that they challenged Joint Investigation Team before the Lahore High Court (LHC). He said that the JIT was made without approval of the cabinet and under the law, the additional secretary home was not authorized to form the JIT.
He said that they made party Punjab Interim CM Mohsin Naqvi, IGP and the CCPO as parties in the case.
“The interim CM, IGP and the CCPO Lahore are our accused in Zille Shah murder case, so how the JIT made by these people can summon us,” said Fawad Chaudhary.
Federal cabinet rejects SC verdict about elections in Punjab, KP:
The federal cabinet held a meeting on Tuesday afternoon and rejected the decision of the Supreme Court, terming it impractical.
According to the sources, the federal cabinet said that the Supreme Court’s verdict was a minority verdict and they decided to take up this matter on the floor of the National Assembly.
Later, addressing the house, the PM likened the verdict with the case of PPP founder and former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said it was the same date when the leader like Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was sentenced to death.
He said that the Federal cabinet asked the top court to take immediate action on the Presidential Reference regarding the judicial execution of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
“The Cabinet thinks that a full court should hear the matter and correct the wrongs committed in the past,” said the PM while sharing the cabinet’s decision.
