GUJRANWALA: A woman named Mehwish has lodged a complaint against former Punjab governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Umar Sarfraz Cheema, alleging that he attempted to abduct her at the behest of Cheema and Tanveer Safdar.
Mehwish also accused the suspects, including Farooq, Qudoos, Sadiq, Zeshan, and others, of destroying her crops with the use of arms. A case has been registered against Cheema and others at the Ghakhar police station in Gujranwala, and an investigation is currently underway.
Umar Sarfraz Cheema is a former Punjab governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader who has recently been accused of attempted abduction and destruction of crops.
Cheema was appointed as Punjab Governor by Imran Khan after the removal of Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on April 3, 2022.
After the ouster of Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a summary for the removal of the Cheema to President Arif Alvi and he was subsequently removed from office on May 10, 2022. He has been remained active in the party.
The recent allegations against Cheema are a serious blow to the PTI, which has already been facing criticism over allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
