PPP issues show cause notice to Nabil Gabol over ‘inappropriate remarks’

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)  took exception to the inappropriate remarks of its leader Nabil Gabol on a YouTube channel and issued him show cause notice to explain his position.

Taking to Twitter, the PPP spokesperson said, “Nabil Gabool has been issued show cause notice over his inappropriate remarks while the party’s Sindh chapter President Nisar Khoro issued him the show cause notice,”.

He also said that Gabol was given three-day time to submit his explanation.

According to the sources, Gabol would lose his party membership if he failed to comply with the directions of the party regarding explanation about the remarks. PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro issued the notice to Gabol, calling on him to explain his use of such language within three days or face disciplinary action.

The spokesperson also stressed on this point that there was no need of such remarks or or non-parliamentary language within the party’s policies.

He also said that such remarks were against the party’s policy.

Nabil Gabol had earlier stirred controversy with a statement he made that went viral on social media. Gabol has faced heavy backlash for his recent remarks on several podcasts, which many have criticized as being misogynistic.

In his statement, Gabol referenced an English saying that suggests that one should “just enjoy” rape if it is inevitable. When the podcast host disagreed with the statement, Gabol stood by his comments, insisting that the saying has legitimacy. As a result of his remarks, Gabol has faced criticism from online users.

Bakhtawar Bhutto took to Twitter and expressed that the offensive rhetoric belonged to the individual alone and did not represent their party in any way. She added that their party unequivocally stood for women’s rights and protection, and misogyny had no place in their religion or political party.

Fatima Bhutto has also joined the group of people who expressed their criticism of Nabil Gabol’s statement, while Dua took to Twitter to call it “utter filth.” She also accused Gabol of having a criminal mindset and doing nothing for the people of Lyari, whom he supposedly represents, while laughing and discussing such violence, calling it “horrendous.”
