Imran Khan, the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed concerns about a supposed plan aimed at undermining the PTI through the involvement of the army. In a conversation with journalists at his residence, he stated that there was a deliberate attempt by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to pit his party against the military, which he considered highly dangerous for the country. Imran Khan believes that the PDM is resorting to this strategy because they are unable to compete with the PTI in elections.
Imran Khan also expressed his dismay over a recent police operation at his residence in Zaman Park. He revealed that his wife, Bushra Bibi, was alone at home when a large contingent of armed police personnel stormed into their house. He criticized the police action, stating that it was an unprecedented intrusion into his personal space. Imran Khan attributed this incident to his wife’s involvement as a trustee in the Al-Qadir case.
Furthermore, Imran Khan made it clear that his fight was not against the military establishment, although he acknowledged their apparent anger towards him. He claimed to be unaware of the reasons behind their discontent. Imran Khan emphasized that the government’s actions against his party were unprecedented and aimed at eliminating the PTI. However, he believed that these actions only served to strengthen his party’s resolve.
Imran Khan extended his sympathies to those who had decided to leave the PTI, acknowledging that they had faced immense pressure. When asked if he would welcome those who left the party back, he responded with understanding but did not confirm any negotiations. He reiterated his position that talks could only be held regarding elections and that any alternative path would lead to the destruction of Pakistan.
Imran Khan expressed his conviction that the riots on May 9 were part of an organized conspiracy. He called for an independent commission to investigate the matter, promising that evidence would be presented to expose the planned nature of the attacks. He vowed to fight for the true freedom (Haqeeqi Azadi) of the country, even if he was left alone. Imran Khan believed that his arrest and the ban on the PTI were part of a larger plan orchestrated from London, warning that such actions would harm democracy, the public, and the institutions of Pakistan.
Questioning the legal standing of caretaker governments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan highlighted that the 90-day period for elections had passed without any representatives being elected. He accused the federal government, caretaker government, and the Election Commission of Pakistan of violating the constitution.
Imran Khan acknowledged that several party members were leaving the PTI due to immense pressure. He urged people not to criticize them, emphasizing that they were facing unprecedented challenges. Imran Khan cautioned against fighting the army, asserting that such a confrontation would result in the loss of the country. He expressed his concern over the erosion of democracy in Pakistan as a consequence of recent events.
