SARGODHA, Jun 02: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has taken strict action against adulterated food items in the district, as several raids were conducted resulting in the confiscation and disposal of contaminated products. The PFA teams worked diligently to ensure the safety of consumers by eliminating the presence of harmful substances in the food chain.
In a recent press release issued by the PFA on Friday, it was revealed that two pickle factories located in Imran Town were the target of the crackdown. During the raids, a staggering 410 kilograms of pickles contaminated with fungus and chemicals were discovered and subsequently discarded. This operation highlights the PFA’s commitment to upholding food safety standards and protecting the health of the public.
Simultaneously, the PFA team conducted another raid at a dairy milk shop in Phulwaran, where they uncovered 390 liters of adulterated milk and 470 kilograms of adulterated ‘khoya’ – a traditional dairy product. The presence of such substandard and hazardous products jeopardized the well-being of consumers, prompting the immediate disposal of these items.
To ensure that the culprits responsible for these violations face appropriate consequences, the PFA has registered cases against three individuals involved in the production and distribution of these adulterated food items. This step serves as a stern warning to those who undermine food safety regulations, emphasizing the authority’s determination to maintain the highest standards of quality control in the food industry.
The Punjab Food Authority continues to prioritize the well-being of the public by implementing stringent measures against food adulteration. Regular inspections and surprise raids are conducted throughout the province to safeguard the health and interests of consumers. The PFA remains committed to upholding its mandate of ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic, and unadulterated food products for all citizens.
