PDM chief vows to continue SC sit-in until CJP Bandial resigns

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday announced an authorized sit-in outside the Supreme Court until the resignation of the Chief Justice.

According to the spokesman for Pakistan Democratic Movement Maulana Fazlur Rehman, more than a hundred thousand workers would participate in the sit-in.

“Caravans of thousands of workers from all provinces have been prepared to bring to Islamabad,” said the PDM Chief.

The spokesperson said that the caravans from all over Punjab would be led by Dr. Atiqur Rehman, while caravans from Balochistan would be led by Abdul Ghaffar Hyderi and Maulana Abdul Wasay.

Caravans from Sindh would be led by Rashid Mahmood Soomro and caravans from the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be led by Akram Khan Durrani. The caravan coming from Peshawar will be led by Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman.

According to the statement, workers from southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab would participate in the sit-in, while a convoy of JUI-F workers from Karachi will depart tomorrow.

It should be noted that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced a protest after the Supreme Court’s decision to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan. A meeting of the PDM leaders was held under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the situation arising after the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan from court.

During the meeting, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif suggested that a large protest demonstration should be held outside the Supreme Court.
