Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi approaches IHC against NAB notices

  • The former first wife asks the court to declare the NAB notices as illegal and unlawful and stop its conversion from inquiry into investigation.

Islamabad: Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) approached the Islamabad High Court against notices issued to her by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Thoshakhana case.

The former first lady filed the petition in the IHC and challenged the notices she issued against her on February 17 and March 16.  She made the NAB chairman and Additional Director NAB, Rawalpindi as respondents in her plea.

Bushra Bibi said that she had nothing to do with the allegations levelled against her. She asked the court to declare the NAB notices as illegal and unlawful.

She also asked the court to stop the NAB inquiry from turning into investigation.

Earlier, the anti-corruption watchdog directed Bushra Bibi to appear in person before it in Thoshakhana case.  The NAB team arrived at Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park to deliver the notice to Bushra Bibi.

The NAB previously had summoned the PTI chief and his wife to the Rawalpindi office on March 9 for investigation in the Thoshakhana case.

The officials  sent the notices to both the addresses of Imran Khan in Bani Gala and Chak Shehzad in the federal capital.

The NAB accused Imran and his wife Bushra of selling gifts taken from Thoshakhana. The gifts, it said, included four Rolex watches, an iPhone given to him by the Qatar Armed Forces in 2018 as well as valuable watches and other gifts.  It said that sale of these gifts was open violation of the law.
