- PM Shehbaz, FM Bilawal, Law Minister Tarar deliver fiery speeches but do not sign the resolution passed against the Supreme Court decision in Punjab and KP elections case.
Islamabad: The resolution approved by the National Assembly against the verdict of the Supreme Court three-member bench for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not carry the signatures of any important office holder.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered speech against the Supreme Court verdict, likened it with the judicial murder of PPP founder and former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar also made strong and lengthy speeches against the Supreme Court three-member bench.
But, interestingly none of the said leaders mentioned above signed the resolution moved by Khalid Magsi against the Supreme Court decision.
A local private TV also unveiled the fact that the prominent and important political leader preferred to stay away from signing the resolution.
The reports suggested that the 60 per cent of the total signatures done on the resolution were of those who were sitting on the reserved seats.
PTI vice-president Fawad Chaudhary also said that the parliament needed two-third majority to pass resolution against the decision of the Supreme Court. He said the incumbent government failed to that support.
The coalition government, in a bid to reject the Supreme Court decision on the elections, chose the parliament forum to speak collectively. The National Assembly approved the resolution which made the PM and the members of the cabinet bound to not implement the Supreme Court decision regarding elections in Punjab and KP.
Addressing the house, JUI-F leader Asad Mahmood, the son of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said that they would not accept the judgment. He said they would not allow Imran Khan to take over the power corridors again.
Asad Mahmood asked the judges of the top court that they could hold the entire parliament under the contempt of court law but made it clear that they would not accept such judgments.
Many other members of the National Assembly also rejected the decision of the apex court and demanded formation of the full court for hearing of the election case.
