RAWALPIDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Saturday emphasized that there would be no tolerance for those who disturbed the peace and stability process.
The army chief said that the armed forces would not allow any attempt to violate the sanctity and security of its installations or commit vandalism.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Asim Munir visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar, where he received a briefing on the current security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. He acknowledged the professional competence, performance, and achievements of law enforcement agencies in their fight against terrorism.
During his visit to the corps headquarters in Peshawar, Army Chief General Asim Munir addressed the officers and highlighted the evolving threats to national security. He also informed them about the challenges of information warfare and the efforts to create misperceptions.
The statement added that he shed light on the fact that inimical elements are making malicious attempts to target the armed forces. He pledged that such nefarious attempts would be foiled with the support of the people of Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to arrest all the criminals and attackers of historic Jinnah House in Lahore within 72 hours.
The prime minister said that the cases should be filed against these terrorists in the courts in a bid to prevent terrorism.
“The law minister should increase the number of anti-terrorism courts, and if we have to run them at night to punish these terrorists, we should so,” said PM Shehbaz during his visit to Lahore’s Safe City Authority on Saturday.
The PM categorically said that all those involved in acts of terrorism would be punished under the law, saying that the police and administration should immediately arrest the terrorists.
He said, “There is no room for terrorists in our country. All terrorists should be arrested without discrimination,”.
The PM said the action would be taken against those planning terrorist activities, adding that all these people would be brought to justice.
He said, “No Pakistani can think of carrying out such an act. The perpetrators of this worst kind of act will be punished under the constitution and the law. Jinnah House, a historic building, has been burnt down and completely destroyed,”.
He went on to say that the entire nation was grieving over these events. He stated that Imran Niazi and his group were no less than enemies of Pakistan.
