ISLAMABAD: Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang would arrive in Pakistan on May 5 on an important visit, the sources confirmed on Tuesday.
A trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China and Afghanistan would be held in Islamabad on May 6.
According to details, the Chinese Foreign Minister would visit Pakistan for the first time after assuming office. Sources said that Qin Gang would arrive in Islamabad on May 5.
The sources said that the Chinese Foreign Minister was visiting Islamabad on the invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto. Both the leaders would hold strategic talks on May 6 during the visit.
On May 6, a trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan is also possible in Islamabad. It is expected that the Afghan Foreign Minister will arrive in Islamabad on May 6 to participate in the meeting.
The current trilateral mechanism of Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China and Afghanistan would meet in Islamabad on May 6.
It may be mentioned here that the last meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan’s trilateral mechanism was held in Islamabad in September 2019.
At the end of last month, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang had a telephone conversation in which Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the Chinese Premier on his appointment to a high post.
The conversation between the two Prime Ministers was based on traditional enthusiasm and coordination, and Pakistan-China’s all-weather strategic partnership was prominent. During the conversation, cooperation in important areas, including CPEC, was also discussed.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s principled position on the Kashmir issue.
