Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world.
This time around, the Pakistan captain has been named in the Indian textbook of grade eight. The netizens over the moon after the image of Babar Azam alongside India’s most famous cricketers Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni is making rounds on the internet.
“Cricket is the most loved game in India and the cricketers are celebrities. Do you know the nicknames of your favourite cricketers?”, reads a question in the Indian book. Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s name is featured among the answers.
In 2022, a question on the skipper’s famous cover drive was also included in a Pakistani textbook.
The question reads, “Babar Azam has hit a cover drive by given kinetic energy of 150J to the ball by his bat. a) At what speed will the ball go the boundary if the mass of the ball is 120g? b) How much kinetic energy footballer must impart to a football of mass 450g to make it move at this speed?.”
Born in Lahore on October 15, 1994, Babar started playing cricket at a young age and made his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in 2010. He then went on to represent the Pakistan Under-19 team and made his international debut for Pakistan in 2015.
Since then, Babar has been a consistent performer for Pakistan in all formats of the game. He is known for his elegant stroke-play, excellent footwork, and ability to score runs in all conditions. In 2019, Babar was appointed as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team in the limited-overs formats.
Babar has received numerous accolades for his performances, including the prestigious Sir Vivian Richards Award in 2020 for being the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year. He has also been named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year in 2017, 2019, and 2020, and the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year in 2018 and 2020.
