Another 93 Pakistanis evacuated from conflict-hit Sudan reach Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Another 93 Pakistanis stranded in conflict-hit Sudan safely arrived in Islamabad  on Monday.  A Pakistan International Airline (PIA) lifted the Pakistanis from returned home via Jeddah on five special flights to date.

The safe evacuation of Pakistanis from war-torn Sudan is currently underway.

The Foreign Office said that 636 stranded Pakistanis returned home via Jeddah on five special flights to date. They added that nearly 1000 Pakistanis still in Sudan would be evacuated within the next 24-48 hours.

Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajjid Hussain Turi and Adviser to the Prime Minister, Amir Muqam welcomed the citizens who arrived from Jeddah.

Turi was of the view that  out of 1200 Pakistanis living in Sudan, about 500 have returned to Pakistan.

Amir Muqam stated that the government would continue its efforts until all Pakistanis are safely returned from Sudan, with Saudi Arabia’s assistance in the evacuation process. The government is covering all expenses associated with the evacuation of Pakistanis from Sudan to their homes in Pakistan.

Evacuated individuals appreciated the government’s timely decisions and support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their safe return home.
