Malala Yousafzai Speaks Out on Gaza’s Education Crisis

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has raised the alarm over the ongoing education crisis in Gaza, describing the situation as devastating for children in the region. In a post on her X account, Malala wrote, “The ongoing Israeli genocide has destroyed or damaged every single school in Gaza. Places where children gathered, asked questions, made friends and imagined their futures no longer exist.”

After discussions with Palestinian UN officials, she emphasized the urgent need for accountability and justice, highlighting how Israel is blocking access to essential books and school supplies, making it increasingly difficult for children to continue their education.

Malala noted that the Malala Fund will continue its support for organisations working on the ground, focusing on ensuring that girls can keep learning despite the crisis. She stressed collaboration with local leaders to help young girls rebuild their communities, pursue education, and shape their futures.

Her message underscores the severe impact of conflict on education, and calls for sustained global attention to protect the rights of children and girls in conflict zones.

The situation in Gaza, where schools have been extensively damaged, highlights the urgent need for humanitarian and educational interventions to safeguard the next generation’s future.
