Interim Bail of Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala Extended in Gambling App Case

Interim bail of Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala extended

Interim bail of Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala extended until January 26 as a sessions court in Lahore on Tuesday granted relief to the two social media influencers in cases related to the alleged promotion of a gambling application.

The court extended the interim bail of YouTuber Rajab Butt and TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, popularly known as Naniwala, after both appeared before the court under strict security arrangements. The suspects are facing charges under cybercrime laws for allegedly promoting an online gambling application.

During the hearing, the investigating officer requested additional time to submit the case record. Accepting the request, the court granted extra time to the investigation officer and adjourned further proceedings after extending the interim bail pleas of both influencers until January 26.

Interim bail of Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala extended amid ongoing investigations, as the court continues to examine the evidence collected in the case.

Separately, the Punjab Bar Council has reinstated the licence of Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq, the legal representative of YouTuber Rajab Butt, after accepting his objections against the earlier suspension order. However, the council has also referred the matter to its disciplinary committee for further inquiry.

Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq had challenged the Punjab Bar Council’s decision, stating that his licence was suspended on the basis of incorrect and misleading information. Following the restoration of his licence, the matter has been forwarded to the disciplinary committee for a detailed review.

The Punjab Bar Council had suspended Ashfaq’s licence on December 31 after a complaint was filed by the president and general secretary of the Karachi Bar Association.

The legal developments come days after YouTuber Rajab Butt was allegedly assaulted following his appearance at an additional district and sessions court in Karachi in a separate case linked to a controversial statement.

Rajab Butt, who appeared in the Karachi court alongside TikToker Naniwala, was reportedly attacked by a group of lawyers within the court premises, leaving him injured with a bloodied mouth and torn clothes.

Confirming the incident, Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq said that several lawyers assaulted his client inside the court and continued to beat him, resulting in injuries.

Interim bail of Rajab Butt, Nadeem Naniwala extended as legal proceedings continue in both the gambling app case and related matters.
