PAF conducts successful flight test of Taimoor Weapon System
PAF conducts successful flight test of Taimoor Weapon System, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its indigenous defence and aerospace capabilities, according to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The Pakistan Air Force successfully tested the indigenously developed Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile, which is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres while carrying a conventional warhead. Defence officials described the test as a major step forward in enhancing the country’s conventional deterrence and operational readiness.
According to the ISPR, the Taimoor Weapon System is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system, enabling it to fly at extremely low altitudes. This advanced capability allows the missile to effectively evade hostile air defence and missile interception systems, significantly increasing its survivability and strike effectiveness in complex combat environments.
Military officials said the missile’s precision-strike capability substantially enhances the Pakistan Air Force’s operational flexibility, allowing it to respond effectively to evolving regional security challenges. The successful test further strengthens Pakistan’s overall defence posture by demonstrating advanced indigenous technological capabilities.
The flight test was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, as well as prominent scientists and engineers who played a key role in the design and development of the Taimoor Weapon System. Officials noted that the achievement reflects the growing technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, congratulated the scientists, engineers and the entire Pakistan Air Force team on the successful test. He praised their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s defence capabilities through indigenous solutions.
The Air Chief reaffirmed that such achievements are a clear manifestation of the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in the rapidly evolving regional security environment. He added that continued investment in indigenous defence technologies remains essential for safeguarding national security.
The ISPR further stated that the successful flight test of the Taimoor Weapon System underscores the Pakistan Air Force’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority and the fulfilment of national security objectives.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the nation and the Pakistan Air Force on the successful test. He termed the achievement a major milestone and lauded the PAF for taking an important step toward further strengthening Pakistan’s defence and deterrence capabilities through indigenous innovation.
PAF conducts successful flight test of Taimoor Weapon System at a time when regional security dynamics continue to evolve, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining strategic stability and a robust defence posture through technological advancement.
