Pakistan Condemns Attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Residence

Pakistan has strongly condemned the reported attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, terming the incident a grave threat to global peace, security and stability, particularly at a time when diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the Ukraine conflict are underway.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with President Vladimir Putin, as well as with the government and people of the Russian Federation. The statement reiterated Pakistan’s firm rejection of all forms of violence and acts intended to undermine peace or destabilise regions.

The prime minister stressed the importance of restraint and urged all parties to avoid actions that could further escalate tensions at the regional and international levels. Pakistan, the statement added, remains committed to promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that Ukraine attempted to target President Vladimir Putin’s residence in northern Russia. According to Russian authorities, the alleged attack occurred overnight in the Novgorod region, where 91 long-range drones were launched toward the presidential residence.

Lavrov said Russian air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed all incoming drones, preventing any damage or casualties. He added that the incident would prompt Moscow to reassess its negotiating stance regarding the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

Warning of consequences, Lavrov stated that Russia’s armed forces had already identified targets for retaliatory strikes, describing the alleged drone attack as an act of “state terrorism.” He cautioned that such actions would not go unanswered.

The reported incident comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with international concerns growing over the potential for further escalation and its impact on global security.
