Saudi Arabia honours CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir with King Abdulaziz medal
Saudi Arabia has conferred one of its highest national honours on Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to Saudi media, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class was awarded to Field Marshal Munir by Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz during an official meeting held in Riyadh on Monday.
The Saudi Press Agency reported that the medal was presented in appreciation of Field Marshal Munir’s “distinguished efforts to strengthen the strategic relationship and cooperation between the two nations.” The award ceremony took place during Prince Khalid’s formal reception of the Pakistani military chief.
Prince Khalid congratulated Field Marshal Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and extended best wishes for success in his new responsibilities, the report added.
Saudi Gazette said discussions during the meeting focused on the long-standing Saudi-Pakistani relationship, defence and military cooperation, and joint efforts aimed at promoting regional and international peace and security.
In a post on X, Prince Khalid stated that, on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, he presented the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class to Field Marshal Munir for his role in enhancing cooperation and advancing Saudi-Pakistani relations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the meeting also covered regional security dynamics, strategic defence collaboration, and evolving geopolitical challenges.
“The interaction reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,” the ISPR statement said, adding that the King Abdulaziz Medal is the kingdom’s highest national honour.
