Public outrage has erupted after an alleged incident of harassment and physical assault involving customers at Ghalib Restaurant on Tipu Sultan Road, with eyewitness accounts triggering widespread condemnation on social media and calls for a boycott of the eatery.

According to a social media post shared by an eyewitness, the incident occurred when she visited the restaurant with her family to celebrate her father’s birthday. What was meant to be a family gathering reportedly turned into a disturbing experience after staff members allegedly mistreated multiple customers in full public view.

The eyewitness stated that customers, including women, were verbally abused by restaurant staff, while the situation escalated when a waiter allegedly smashed a plate on a customer’s head, causing bleeding from the back of his head. The user said the act could have resulted in serious or even fatal injuries had the plate struck the victim’s head or eyes.

Even more alarming, according to the account, was the conduct of the restaurant’s management. The eyewitness claimed that instead of intervening to de-escalate the situation, the manager allegedly continued pushing and mistreating customers, further aggravating tensions inside the restaurant.

“What we witnessed with our own eyes was disturbing,” the user wrote, adding that the behaviour displayed by the staff was completely unacceptable for a restaurant that families trust for celebrations and gatherings.

Following the viral spread of the post, netizens expressed anger and disappointment, with many demanding accountability from the restaurant management and urging authorities to take notice. Several users also called for a boycott of Ghalib Restaurant, questioning the lack of professionalism and basic hospitality standards.

After the incident gained traction online, the eyewitness reiterated her stance, writing: “Treating customers like this is absurd. This is not hospitality. This is not professionalism.”

As of now, no official statement has been issued by Ghalib Restaurant regarding the allegations. The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over customer safety and service standards in popular dining establishments.
