Aleema Khan controlling PTI, claims Sher Afzal Marwat
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that the party has effectively come under the control of Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, amid growing internal tensions and pressure from the federal government.
Speaking on Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath, Marwat said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government realised the seriousness of a possible imposition of Governor’s Rule, prompting senior party figures to shift towards damage control. He alleged that Suhail Afridi was subsequently forced to focus on accommodating the federal government’s demands to avoid further political fallout.
Marwat further claimed that the PTI founder was deliberately kept unaware of policy shifts, asserting that key decisions were now being influenced behind the scenes. According to him, Aleema Khan controlling PTI has become a reality, with the party’s organisational and political direction allegedly being managed through her involvement.
Meanwhile, Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar downplayed reports of serious internal rifts within PTI, stating that differences within the party were not significant enough to derail its broader political strategy.
Khokhar clarified that the PTI founder had instructed that all major decisions should be taken in consultation with veteran politician Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, signalling a collective decision-making approach rather than unilateral control.
He added that the opposition alliance prefers dialogue over street agitation, emphasising that Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas would coordinate with other political parties and civil society to develop a consensus-based political roadmap.
The contrasting statements highlight growing debate over leadership, influence and decision-making within PTI at a time when the party faces legal challenges, political pressure and uncertainty over its future role in national politics.
