Final supermoon of 2025 to be visible in Pakistan this evening

Final supermoon of 2025 to be visible in Pakistan this evening

The final supermoon of the year is set to brighten skies across Pakistan this evening, with SUPARCO confirming that the last celestial spectacle of 2025 — widely known as the Cold Moon — will be visible nationwide between December 4 and 5. According to the space agency, the full moon will rise at around 4:58pm PST today, already illuminated at nearly 99.2 percent, before reaching its peak brightness at approximately 4:15am on December 5. SUPARCO says the illumination will increase to nearly 99.8 percent, making it one of the brightest lunar displays of the year, a development closely followed by astronomy enthusiasts and readers of Pakistan News and Science & Tech updates.

A supermoon occurs when the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth during its orbit, making it appear noticeably larger and brighter than a typical full moon. For this Cold Moon, the Earth–Moon distance is expected to be around 357,218 kilometres—slightly farther than November’s supermoon, which was recorded at 356,978 kilometres, yet still close enough to appear almost eight percent larger and about 15 percent brighter than the average full moon. This marks the third and final supermoon of 2025, following October’s Harvest Moon and November’s Beaver Moon, which also drew significant interest across Latest News and global World News platforms.

SUPARCO has urged citizens to step outdoors and witness the phenomenon without the need for telescopes or advanced equipment, provided weather conditions remain clear. The agency encouraged the public to catch the Cold Moon from rooftops, open parks or quieter areas away from city lights for the best viewing experience. With the supermoon closing out the 2025 lunar spectacle season, tonight’s sighting is expected to draw widespread attention across Pakistan as skywatchers prepare for a brilliant, easily visible display stretching through the night.
