Another motorcyclist crushed to death by speeding dumper in Karachi

A young motorcyclist was crushed to death on Wednesday after a speeding dumper ran over him in Karachi’s Kala Board area, marking yet another fatal accident linked to reckless heavy-vehicle driving in the city. The victim, identified as Najeebullah, was the only brother of three sisters and the sole breadwinner of his family, leaving his loved ones devastated as they waited outside the mortuary for his body.

Witnesses said the dumper was travelling at high speed when it struck the motorcycle, killing Najeebullah on the spot. Rescue teams shifted the body while the truck driver fled immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle on the road. Police said they are making efforts to trace the suspect and have begun collecting CCTV footage from nearby shops to identify him.

Family members told reporters that Najeebullah worked at an ice depot and was originally from Pishin. They said he was unmarried and supported his entire household through his earnings. His relatives expressed anger over the growing menace of rashly-driven dumpers and water tankers that continue to claim innocent lives in Karachi.

Residents of the area voiced frustration, saying heavy vehicles regularly flout traffic rules, speed through narrow streets, and operate without proper monitoring. According to available data, more than 235 people have been killed this year alone in accidents involving heavy vehicles across Karachi. Citizens blame the rising death toll on poor traffic enforcement and the unchecked movement of dumpers and tankers throughout the city.
