Indian Man Murders Wife and Uploads Selfie With Body as WhatsApp Status
In a deeply disturbing incident from India, an Indian man murders wife in Coimbatore after accusing her of being involved in an extramarital relationship, before uploading a selfie with her body as his WhatsApp status. Police identified the suspect as Balamurugan, who had been married to the victim, Sri Priya, with whom he shared three children. For personal reasons, Sri Priya had been staying and working in a women’s hostel in Coimbatore, away from her husband.
According to investigators, Balamurugan had grown increasingly suspicious of his wife’s activities and believed she was involved with another man. On the day of the attack, he went to the hostel and insisted that she leave with him. When she refused, an argument escalated, leading to a violent confrontation in which the suspect allegedly used a concealed sickle to attack her, killing her on the spot.
Authorities said the accused remained at the scene next to her body until police arrived. In an act that has shocked both the local community and social media users, Balamurugan reportedly took a selfie with the victim and uploaded it as his WhatsApp status, along with the chilling caption: “The payment for betrayal is death.”
Police have since arrested the suspect and launched a formal investigation into the circumstances leading up to the killing. Officials say they are reviewing digital evidence, including the suspect’s phone activity and social media posts, as part of the wider probe.
