Field Marshal Asim Munir Visits Kasur, Jahanian Flood-Hit Areas: ISPR
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday visited flood-affected areas in Kasur sector and Jahanian Pirwala to review the relief and rescue operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to ISPR, the Army Chief visited the Flood Relief Camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan where he received a detailed briefing on the prevailing flood situation and the measures being taken to support the displaced families.
Field Marshal Asim Munir underlined the importance of close coordination between civil administration and the military to ensure timely assistance for the victims. Punjab’s Chief Secretary and senior civil officials were also present during the visit.
The COAS said the state cannot afford to lose lives and property every year due to floods and stressed the need for infrastructure development and good governance to protect the people from recurring disasters.
During his interaction with flood affectees, the Army Chief assured them of continued support for their resettlement and rehabilitation. The flood victims expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for timely evacuation and assistance at a critical time.
The COAS also met troops, Rescue 1122 teams, and police officials engaged in relief activities. He praised their round-the-clock efforts, high morale, and dedication to serving the nation in extremely challenging conditions.
Field Marshal Asim Munir also carried out an aerial reconnaissance of flood-hit areas along Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the scale of damage and monitor ongoing relief efforts.
Upon arrival, the Army Chief was received by the Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan Corps.
ISPR said the Pakistan Army remains fully committed to standing with the people in every crisis and will continue to extend maximum support in relief and rehabilitation efforts.
