KP approves Rs1 billion for flood relief and rehabilitation

PESHAWAR – September 3, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved the release of Rs1 billion to support flood relief and rehabilitation efforts, following widespread devastation caused by the Pakistan floods 2025.

According to an official notification from the provincial finance department, the funds have been transferred to the Director Relief, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) under a supplementary grant, in line with the cabinet decision made on August 20, 2025.

The notification further clarified that the amount had already been incorporated into the 2025–26 provincial budget, ensuring that disbursement and utilization would be carried out strictly in accordance with rules and regulations.

Healthcare facilities severely damaged

Floods have also left Pakistan’s healthcare system struggling, with over 100 health facilities damaged nationwide, according to a report submitted to the federal government.

The report states that 104 health facilities were affected, including 7 completely destroyed and 97 partially damaged. Among the hardest-hit regions are Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In KP alone, 3 health centers were completely destroyed, while Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan each reported 2 facilities reduced to rubble.

Authorities have assured that relief operations are being conducted on an emergency basis, with health services placed on high alert to protect vulnerable communities in flood-affected areas.
