Texas candidate sparks outrage by burning Holy Quran
TEXAS: A Republican candidate for US Congress in Texas has sparked outrage after burning a copy of the Holy Quran with a flamethrower, making deeply offensive remarks against Islam and Muslims.
Valentina Gomez, an outspoken anti-Muslim activist, was filmed setting fire to the holy book while shouting inflammatory statements.
In the disturbing video, Gomez claimed that Muslims would “rape your daughters” and “behead your sons unless we stop Islam once and for all.” She declared that “America is a Christian nation” and compared her act to “David killing Goliath.”
Gomez went further, labeling Muslims as terrorists and calling for American Muslims to be expelled “to any of the 57 Muslim nations.” She added that the “God of Israel” is the only God, sparking strong backlash from civil rights groups.

The video, which Gomez proudly shared on Instagram while urging supporters to vote for her to “end Islam in Texas,” has been widely condemned across social media. Critics accused her of promoting hate speech and incitement to violence, demanding that authorities take legal action.
This is not the first time Gomez has courted controversy. She previously disrupted a Muslim rally, delivering a hate-filled speech before being removed from the stage.
Her latest act has renewed demands for accountability, with human rights organizations urging lawmakers to address the growing rise of Islamophobia in the United States.
