Field Marshal Asim Munir Chinese FM meeting Discuss Regional Security
Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi met with Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir in Islamabad on Friday, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on regional security, counter-terrorism, and matters of mutual interest. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the All-Weather Strategic Partnership and enhance coordination at regional and international forums.
During the meeting, Wang Yi reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and socio-economic development. Field Marshal Asim Munir, in turn, expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support, acknowledging the vital role Beijing has played in strengthening Pakistan’s defense, economy, and regional standing.

The discussions came as part of Wang Yi’s official visit to Islamabad, during which he also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to expanding cooperation with China in areas such as trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, mining, and industrialization. He also highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase-II as a crucial driver of Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and a vital project for regional connectivity.
PM Shehbaz expressed deep appreciation to the Chinese leadership and people for their consistent support to Pakistan, particularly in safeguarding its sovereignty and promoting development. He further assured Beijing of Pakistan’s unwavering backing on its core issues, reiterating the vision of both nations to strengthen their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
