Nation Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Renewed Zeal and Unity:
The nation celebrates its 78th Independence Day today with renewed patriotic zeal, honoring the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and pledging to work toward building the country as a true Islamic welfare state. The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in each provincial headquarters, followed by special prayers in mosques for peace, prosperity, and national solidarity. The main flag-hoisting ceremony is taking place at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is unfurling the national flag.
This year’s celebrations carry added significance, fueled by Pakistan’s recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq operation against India’s unprovoked aggression. The triumph has strengthened national pride and unity, with buildings across the country illuminated in green and white, adorned with flags and buntings. Citizens are waving the national flag from rooftops, vehicles, and public gatherings, embodying the country’s unwavering spirit.
In his Independence Day message, President Asif Zardari described the occasion as a moment of “renewed pride and hope,” praising the bravery and unity displayed in the Marka-e-Haq operation. He noted that the nation’s recent military success had boosted confidence in Pakistan’s institutions and elevated its standing on the global stage. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs who fought for Pakistan’s freedom and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic reforms, national sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence. He emphasized that Independence Day 2025 is not only a commemoration of freedom but also a call to action for unity, justice, and resilience.
