Saudi Arabia to Use Flying Taxis in AIUIA and Neom by 2026

Flying taxis are set to become a reality in Saudi Arabia’s Neom and AlUla by 2026, as announced by Saudia Airlines. These electric air taxis, developed by Volocopter, utilize Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) technology.

The initial tests were conducted in Neom in June 2023, marking Saudi Arabia’s introduction to this innovative mode of transportation. The flying taxis aim to transform urban mobility, offering an alternative to traditional cars and enhancing public transportation.

Riyadh and AlUla are identified as key locations for the air taxi service, with plans to connect Riyadh to popular destinations like Diriyah and Qiddiyah. Additionally, flying taxis are envisioned to facilitate Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, providing a swift transport option from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to Makkah hotels.
