Bollywood actor Akhil Mishra, famous for his memorable portrayal of Librarian Dubey in the iconic Indian movie “3 Idiots,” has sadly passed away. Mishra, aged 58, had been grappling with health issues, primarily related to high blood pressure, in recent times.
Tragically, Mishra suffered a severe head injury after losing balance while standing on a stool. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred in the kitchen of his home while his wife, actress Suzanne Bernert, was away in Hyderabad for a film shoot.
He was reportedly discovered in a pool of blood and sent to the hospital, but he couldn’t survive and died a short time later. A post-mortem has been ordered for his body.
Akhil Mishra’s prominent career spanned both television and the silver screen. He left a lasting impression on television with his exceptional presence in shows like “Bhanwar,” “Uttaran” (where he played the role of Umed Singh Bundela), “Udaan,” “CID,” “Shrimaan Shrimati,” “Bharat Ek Khoj,” and “Rajani,” among numerous others. In the realm of cinema, his contributions were equally remarkable, with notable roles in films like “Don,” “Well Done Abba,” and “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.” However, it was his portrayal of Librarian Dubey in “3 Idiots” that etched his name in the annals of Indian cinema as an enduring legacy.
Akhil Mishra’s personal life intertwined with his professional journey. He is survived by his wife, German actor Suzanne Bernert, acclaimed for her portrayal of Sonia Gandhi in the film “The Accidental Prime Minister.” The couple’s love story was deeply profound, culminating in a second traditional wedding ceremony in 2011, following their initial union in 2009. Their artistic collaboration extended beyond their personal lives, with both of them collaborating on projects such as the film “Kram” and the TV series “Mera Dil Deewana.” Their creative synergy also manifested in the short film “Majnu ki Juliet” in 2019, where Akhil Mishra showcased his talents as a writer and director.
