Islamabad, September 16, 2023 – Pakistan’s interim Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has officially confirmed that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), is scheduled to visit Pakistan in the near future. The announcement was made during Minister Jilani’s address at the Youth Ministers Conference of the Commonwealth of Nations. The visit of the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia is expected to include meetings with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and other high-ranking officials.
Initially planned for early September, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman postponed his visit to Pakistan, as he concluded a three-day visit to India following his participation in the G-20 summit.
During his address, Foreign Minister Jilani also touched upon the strained relations between Islamabad and New Delhi, expressing hope that both nations could resolve their issues amicably.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have enjoyed a longstanding and robust relationship, deeply rooted in religious, economic, and geopolitical ties. The two countries share a common bond through Islam, with both being predominantly Muslim nations.
Economic cooperation has been a cornerstone of their relationship, with Saudi Arabia serving as a vital source of financial aid and investment in South Asia. Additionally, both nations have extended support to each other on diplomatic fronts. Pakistan has received Saudi Arabia’s backing on the Kashmir issue, while Saudi Arabia has sought regional security cooperation.
The upcoming visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Pakistan is expected to further strengthen the historical ties between the two nations. It is anticipated that discussions during the visit will encompass various bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest, further cementing the strong relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
