SIALKOT: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif apologized from all the families whose privacy and sanctity was violated during the police raids after Imran Khan’s arrest.
“I apologize from all the families who houses have been raided by the police and the women have been misbehaved,” said the Defence Minister while addressing a press conference in Sialkot on Saturday.
He gave these remarks when he visited his constituency and came to know about the police raids in the houses of the PTI leaders and workers.
The PML-N senior leader said that he was also ready to visit the victim families and apologize from them, saying that he was totally unaware of all such events.
The federal minister said that the police raids inside the houses and misbehave with the women during the crackdown against the PTI leaders and workers following the arrest of Imran Khan were condemnable.
“The respect and sanctity of the women have been violated during the police raids which is highly condemnable, and I’m sorry on all that,” said the minister.
He said he did not believe in revengeful politics since the day he had been in it. He said he had been in politics for last 32 years and his father also did politics from the same city of Sialkot but they never thought to do politics to take revenge.
“It does not matter if I’m in the power or out of it I don’t believe in revengeful politics,” said the federal minister.
He said, “I’m personally ashamed of all these events that took place,”.
During the press conference, Khawaja Asif said that the Chairman of the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) gave a statement against the Army Chief last night.
“Such things do not befit former Prime Ministers. Attacks on army installations in Lahore and Rawalpindi provide an opportunity to the enemies, which the enemy itself could not accomplish, but Imran Khan and his associates have done so,” said Khawaja Asif.
He said that instead of facilitating Imran Khan, the judiciary should operate according to the constitution and the law. “A judge did not allow two judges sitting on his right and left to speak. If anyone has any cases against Imran Khan, they have also been given bail. Is this justice?,” said the minister.
He stated that if the army and police had reacted during the attacks, the state would have suffered. The army could have fired, but then it would have been what Imran Khan wanted. He said that whatever the judiciary is doing is in front of everyone.
“When a suspect is brought before the court and the judge says, “Wow, I am very happy to see you,” what can be expected of justice from that judge?,” said the PML-N leader.
He stated that when judgments were being heard against Nawaz Sharif and his family, where were these judges? Nawaz Sharif was declared ineligible for not taking salary from his son’s company, why wasn’t he given relief? Why is the judiciary and its laws being implemented separately today?
Imran Khan,he said, is being granted bails for cases that he is not even aware of.
He said that all the faces that were ending former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s politics were being exposed one by one, but by the grace of Allah Almighty, Nawaz Sharif’s politics is still alive and his younger brother, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, he said, is still the Prime Minister of the country.
He said that for the last four years, Imran Khan had been looting the country and now his cronies are looting the country, and the orders to spread chaos and anarchy in the country were also given by Imran Khan. He said that the parliament is the supreme institution that would eliminate all these excesses.
The minister said the parliament would protect its boundaries and limitations in all circumstances and whatever decision it made, the executive is bound to implement it according to the constitution.
They said that the establishment is playing its role according to the constitution, which Imran Khan and his cronies do not like, and that is why they are attacking institutions.
