Chinese students flock to Pakistani Truck Art exhibition

The first-ever Truck Art exhibition in Langfang city of Hebei province showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage drew a large number of Chinese students who were fascinated by the colorful and dazzling art form.

According to Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, a special Truck Art workshop was conducted by artist Ali and his team at the Silk Road International Cultural Center. Dozens of Chinese students enthusiastically participated in the workshop to learn more about this unique Pakistani art.

The exhibition, which opened in Langfang to celebrate Pakistan’s 83rd National Day and 2023 as the China-Pakistan Year of Tourism Exchanges, will run until July 24. It was organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing in collaboration with the Silk Road International Art Center, Langfang, and the renowned truck artists enterprise, Phool Patti.

The opening ceremony, which took place on April 28, was attended by more than 300 people, including Chinese dignitaries, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business executives, media representatives, and the Pakistani community.

The Phool Patti team designed a specially-designed truck model and other items such as bicycles, murals, clothes, fans, and ceramic pots for the exhibition, which will last for three months. The team leader from Phool Patti, Ali Salman Anchan, will also hold special live workshops with his team for visitors to the exhibition.

Truck Art, also known as “Art on Wheels,” represents cheerfulness, optimism, an appreciation for the beautiful aspects of nature, and a positive outlook on life. It is a unique form of artistic expression that is becoming increasingly popular in Pakistan and abroad.

The exhibition is part of a cultural exchange project between both countries and features a series of commissioned works and large-scale site-specific works, live events, and educational programs.
