FIA contacts Interpol to extradite Farah Gogi in corruption case

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) decided to contact International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to extradite Farah Gogi, a close associate of former first lady Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, over her alleged involvement in a corruption case of multi-billion of rupees.

The FIA claimed that it had strong proof of money laundering against Farhat Shahzadi who is also known as Farah Gogi.

The FIA said that Farhat Shahzadi, also known as Farah Gogi, had already been declared an absconder by the court in the money laundering case. The officials from the FIA claimed that irrefutable proof of money laundering had been gathered against Farah Gogi, who had fled abroad.

The case pertains to the illicit appointment of officials through bribery and political influence peddling, resulting in money laundering.

To bring Farah Gogi back to the country to face charges, the FIA submitted a written request to Interpol seeking the arrest and issuance of a red warrant. Interpol is an international law enforcement agency that facilitates cross-border cooperation among law enforcement agencies. Interpol’s red notice is a global alert that notifies law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and detain wanted persons for extradition or prosecution.

The FIA is confident that Interpol wouldapprehend Farah Gogi and issue a red warrant for her arrest. Once the red warrant is approved, Farah Gogi will be taken into custody and brought back to Pakistan to stand trial.

The FIA took a strong stance against corruption and money laundering, and its efforts resulted in several high-profile cases in recent years. The agency is committed to eradicating corruption and ensuring that those who engaged in illicit activities were held accountable.
