‘Pathaan’ to become first Hindi film to release in Bangladesh after 1971

Shah Rukh Khan’s latest blockbuster film ‘Pathaan’ has achieved another milestone by becoming the first Hindi film to premiere in Bangladesh after the partition in 1971. The film, which has already done historic business worldwide, is set to release in Bangladesh on May 12, according to Nelson D’Souza, Vice President of International Distributions.

In a statement, D’Souza expressed his delight at the film’s release in Bangladesh, highlighting the role of cinema in bringing people together: “Cinema has always been a unifying force between nations, races, and cultures. It transcends borders, galvanizes people and plays a significant hand in bringing people together. We are incredibly thrilled that ‘Pathaan’ will now get a chance to entertain audiences in Bangladesh!”

He went on to express his gratitude to the authorities for granting permission for the release, noting that ‘Pathaan’ is the first Hindi film to be released in Bangladesh post-1971. D’Souza also acknowledged Shah Rukh Khan’s immense popularity in the country, saying that the decision to release the film in Bangladesh was made in recognition of his fan following in the country.

“We have learned over the years that Shah Rukh Khan has tremendous fan following in Bangladesh, and we feel ‘Pathaan’, our latest offering from YRF’s Spy Universe, is the perfect first film of SRK & Hindi cinema to release in the country and represent Indian culture and cinema in its full glory,” he said.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ features an all-star cast, including Deepika Padukone and John Abraham alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The film has taken the Indian box office by storm, collecting more than INR 1000 crore globally, according to News 18.
