The muezzin, Hafiz Amjad, was robbed inside a mosque while recording a naat (a type of religious poetry) for social media. The thief had gained his trust by promising to make his recording popular online.

According to the victim, the thief had also transferred Rs35,000 (approximately $220) from his phone using an app. However, the thief later had a change of heart and returned the stolen phone to the victim.

The incident, which was recorded by the mosque’s security cameras, has garnered widespread attention on social media. Netizens have praised the thief’s act of returning the phone, with some even calling it a “story of redemption.”
