DI KHAN: Security forces have announced the successful operation in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area that led to the killing of a prominent Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, Jabar Shah. His two associates were also injured in the operation.
Jabar Shah was a key TTP commander involved in various attacks on law enforcement agencies and polio teams. He was also active in extorting money for the terrorist group. This marks the second operation by security forces in the area, following the killing of two other terrorists just a day before.
The elimination of Jabar Shah and his associates is a major setback for TTP operations in the region and will likely disrupt their activities. The security forces have pledged to continue their efforts to eliminate all terrorists from the area and the country.
Section 144 imposed in Peshawar
To prevent a possible breach of peace, the deputy commissioner of Peshawar has imposed Section 144 for three days, until May 3, which empowers the district administration to issue orders in the larger interest of the public for a specific period of time.
The decision was made after credible reports suggested attempts to sabotage law and order in the district. The notification also highlighted concerns of non-state actors and miscreants exploiting unlawful gatherings for terrorist activities.
