Ch Shujaat lashes out at govt over police raid at his residence to arrest Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has spoken out against the police raid on his house to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Parvez Elahi.

Ch Shujaat criticised the police for using an armed personal carrier to break down his door and called for the removal of officers involved in the raid. He stated that his sons were injured during the raid, and the police left after two hours.

The PML-Q president clarified that his sons were not related to the case of embezzlement in Gujrat that the police claimed the raid was about. He also expressed concern for national politics and vowed to address the incident at a later time.

Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed shock at the raid and assured that no illegal action would be allowed. Distancing itself from the incident, the coalition government blamed the Punjab interim set-up for the incident.

The raid to arrest Elahi has become a talk of the town in the political circles, with the PTI criticizing the police’s actions and voicing concerns regarding the arrests of its workers and leaders.

Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his disappointment and disapproval of the recent police raid on the house of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) President, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Naqvi, who was in Madina at the time, expressed his shock after seeing a video shared by Shujaat’s son, Chaudhry Saalik Hussain, showing the police force attempting to break into their house during the raid. Saalik Hussain also suffered injuries during the incident.
