A tragic incident occurred in India where a tech CEO from the Chicago area lost his life, and the company’s president was seriously injured during a celebration. The unfortunate event was captured on video when the CEO, Sanjay Shah, aged 56, and the company president, Raju Datla, aged 52, fell 15 feet in front of a large audience at a party for Vistex employees. Vistex is a software company based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The incident happened at the Ramoji Film City studios in Hyderabad, India, where around 700 people had gathered for the employee celebration. The CEO and president were supposed to have a dramatic on-stage entrance, slowly lowered inside an iron cage. However, things took a tragic turn when the chain supporting the cage snapped, causing them to fall.
Raju Datla is in critical condition with a severe head injury, while Sanjay Shah succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Sanjay had founded Vistex, a multinational software company, in 1999, which has grown to have 20 offices globally and serves notable clients like General Motors and Coca-Cola.
Vistex has filed a complaint with the police, alleging lax safety measures at the venue, and an investigation is underway. The sudden death of the CEO has led to an outpouring of condolences and messages.
In a statement released by Vistex, they expressed their heartfelt thoughts and condolences to Sanjay’s family and everyone who knew him professionally and personally. Sanjay Shah was recognized as an exceptional leader, and his loss is deeply felt by all at Vistex. The company is currently focusing on mourning Sanjay, and further communication will be provided after the official mourning period.
