Sheikh Hasina’s Daughter Expresses Heartbreak After Her Mother’s Resignation

Saima Wazed, the daughter of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, shared her deep sadness over not being able to see her mother during the ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh. In a post on X, Wazed wrote, “Heartbroken with the loss of life in my country that I love. So heartbroken that I cannot see and hug my mother during this difficult time.”

Wazed also reaffirmed her commitment to her duties as the regional director for the World Health Organization’s Southeast Asia division.

On Monday, Sheikh Hasina resigned from her position as prime minister following widespread student protests demanding her resignation. The clashes between the government and protesters resulted in the deaths of 300 people, including members of the security forces.
